John Ericsson, B.S. CEO - Managing Director - Inventor Mr. Ericsson is the founding director of BioMarine Fuels, Inc., and is the inventor of the SolarMagnatron™ "patent-pending" technology.. Since 1995, he has also served as managing director and president of Gulf Marine Institute of Technology (GMIT), a publicly and federally-supported, nonprofit marine research institute, which has received numerous equipment and research grants for aquaculture development. From 1982 to 1989, Mr. Ericsson was an independent consultant advising in the fields of energy, cogeneration and marine aquaculture to various companies and institutions in the United States.
Mr. Ericsson received a B.S. degree in Business Management and Marketing from the University of Tulsa and is listed in Who’s Who of American Inventors 1996-1998, holding United States patents (now expired) for the Sea Trek Ocean Farming System and the Sea Star Oyster Relay System. He has been a member of the World Aquaculture Society, the Aquacultural Engineering Society and has been honored by the Massachusetts House of Representatives for “his outstanding contributions to the fishing industry.”Mr. Ericsson was featured in the October 23, 1995, issue of Forbes Magazine in the Science and Technology section.
Dr. Edwin W. "Ed" Cake, Jr., Ph.D.. Director, Chief Biological Science Officer Dr. Cake received B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Marine Biology and Biological Oceanography from Florida State University. Dr. Cake served as aquaculturist and secretary/treasurer of Nauticulture Systems, Inc., from 1988 to 1991. From 1973 to 1986, he was a senior research scientist and head of the Oyster Biology Section of the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, a marine research institute in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Dr. Cake served as an algae culturist while a graduate research assistant at FSU.
From 1975 to 2000, Dr. Cake was an adjunct professor of marine science and environmental science at the University of Southern Mississippi. He currently serves as a senior environmental consultant to various private and public institutions and was a former member of the Executive Committee of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Gulf of Mexico Program. He also served as president of the National Shellfisheries Association and as managing editor of the Journal of Shellfish Research.
Dr. S. Randall Hobgood, M.D. Dr, Hogbood is a founding Member of Board of Directors and serves as an electrical engineering consultant Dr. Hobgood holds a B.E.E. in electrical engineering, an M.S. in Radiation Biophysics and an M.D., each from the University of Florida. He has extensive knowledge in the field of electromagnetic energy and associated systems. Dr. Hobgood is retired from Pensacola Radiology Consultants (1975 – 2002) having served as president and vice-president during those years.
Justin D. Ericsson, B.S. Vice President of Finance and Marketing Mr. Ericsson received a B.S. in Business Management and Finance from the Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Mr. Ericsson’s professional background combines extensive experience in software development, marketing, real estate, and creative financing for startup companies.
Dr. Steen Iversen, Ph.D. Process Engineer and project technical advisor. Dr. Iversen is responsible for implementation of technical projects at SCF Technologies, including research and development, construction of plants, management of subcontractors and partners. Co-developer of the CatLiq® bio-oil process owned by SCF Technologies, he has served as SCF’s Chief Technical Officer since 2006. Prior to SCF, he was a project manager at FLS Miljø, and a Process Engineer, Sorption Technology Center. He was Chairman of the Danish Association for Product Innovation, 2001-03, Board member of the Initiative for Creativity and Innovation (2003-05), and has participated in task forces in the European Industrial Management Association. He received a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Denmark, and is the inventor of 29 international patent families.
Dr. John Wakefield, Ph.D. Science and Technology Consultant Dr. Wakefield holds many advanced degrees in microbiology, ecology, and chemistry. Relevant degrees to the program are a B.S. in Chemistry from Auburn University and an M.S. in Ecology/Microbiology from Florida State University. He has developed methods for the continuous cultivation of microorganisms and the harvesting of their products while a scientist for the United States government and as a senior scientist/director of the Limulus amebocyte lysate project for Corning Glass in Roslyn, New York. He has worked for many years as a technical troubleshooter and engineer in the defense and pharmaceutical industries for entities such as Lockheed-Martin, Carter-Wallace, Pacesetter Systems, Cordis-Dow, Hallicrafters, E-Systems, Maytag, Eli Lilly, and many other client companies.
Georgine Burt, B.S. Secretary-Treasurer, Programs Financial The acting secretary/Treasurer of BioMarine Fuels, Inc., Ms. Burt received a B.S. in Business Administration and Marketing from the San Diego State University in California in 1986 and is a notary public and official circuit court reporter.
William Tibbits Construction Supervisor Mr. Tibbits is a master builder and construction specialist who supervised and built the prototype SolarMagnatron™ system located in Florida. Mr. Tibbits and is a long-term friend and technical advisor to Mr. Ericsson, the inventor of the SES.
Shailesh Adhav, M.S. Grant compliance and financial administration Mr. Adhav received B.S. and M.S. degrees in Accounting from the University of Florida, and is a CPA. In addition, he is CEO of Sixth Fuel, based in Orlando, Florida, which manages Utility incentive programs and retail outreach, and provides strategic advisory services and coordination services with respect to large U.S. retailers, the DOE, EPA, and state/regional utilities. Prior to founding Six Fuel, Mr. Adhav was vice-president and general manager of Channel Intelligence, supervising the Company’s ENERGY STAR programs and green initiatives, after service as the Company’s vice-president of sales for Americas and Europe.
Stuart Fuchs, J.D. Strategic Planning & Consultant Mr. Fuchs received an A.B. degree from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and is a retired member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. Mr. Fuchs is president of Nace Resources, a firm founded in 1995 to provide strategic and financial advice to companies in the technology sector. He serves as managing partner of Gryffindor Capital Partners, L.L.C., a private equity fund founded in 2000, and has served as president of Kingsbury Capital, and as Managing Director of Investment Banking at Chicago Investment Group. At CIG, he raised significant equity capital on behalf of biotech and other high-tech ventures. Prior to Nace, Stuart served for 19 years as an investment banker with Goldman Sachs and practiced law with Barrett Smith Schapiro & Simon.
